Meet Our Founders - Helen & Johnny Gaines
Our Story
Caring Hearts and Hands Cancer Care Community, Inc. was founded in 2024 by Helen and Johnny Gaines, dedicated individuals who recognized the profound impact that cancer has on warriors and their families. Following Helen's one-year battle with pancreatic cancer, the founders, along with other cancer survivors, caregivers, and community advocates, came together with a shared vision to create a supportive network that addresses not only the medical needs of cancer fighters but also their spiritual, emotional, and practical challenges.
Our Why
Motivated by their personal experiences with lung, liver, breast, and pancreatic cancers, The Gaines understand that navigating a diagnosis and treatment can be overwhelming, especially for individuals who face financial hardships, lack transportation, the inability to drive, or have limited support systems. While this was not the case for Helen and Johnny, who were surrounded by a compassionate community, they connected with many individuals facing cancer who experienced these difficulties without knowledge of where to go for help.
Our Impact
With compassion and commitment to service, and belief in this being a calling, The Gaines established Caring Hearts and Hands Cancer Care Community to bridge this gap, ensuring that local cancer warriors have access to essential support services. This grassroots initiative is growing from a humble effort to a robust organization focused on empowering our neighbors - because no one fights alone! Enhancing the overall well-being and resilience of those we serve during cancer treatment is our mission.
